Revenue of the Government of India far below the expected in the budget

During the first 6 months of the current financial year 2011-12( i.e April to September 2011) the receipts of the Government of India are only 36.3% of the budget estimate. The Government fixed  the fiscal deficit target of 4.6% of GDP for the year 2011-12 (the expenditure which will be in excess over revenue excluding borrowings,  is the fiscal deficit and the target fixed by the Government is that it should not exceed 4.6% of the Gross Domestic Product).  But now in view of this revenue collection far below the expected, the fiscal deficit is likely to reach 5.2% of GDP and the Government may be compelled to increase the fiscal deficit target accordingly.
