ITU(International Telecom Union), an organization of United Nations, published an index called ICT Index(Information and Communication Technology Index) for the year 2008. It indicates the status of each country in the ICT development and its availability to the common people. As per this index, India is at 117th position among 151 countries. China is far ahead to India at 79th position. Also, Vietnam at 86th position, Mongolia at 96th position and Srilanka at 105th position are ahead of India.
