Government is looting BSNL
It took away Rs 10100 crores from BSNL in the name of 3G spectrum fee, where as in China it was given free of cost to China Telecom, a PSU like BSNL.
It closed its eyes and allowed the private operators Airtel, Vodafone and Idea to provide 3G services in several circles illegally with out paying the due amount of around Rs 20000 crores for the 3G spectrum in those circles
It took away Rs 7500 crores in the name of repayment of notional loan that was never given, and is now demanding another Rs 1100 crores in thae name of last instalment of principal and interest on it and the BSNL may be compelled to borrow from Banks to pay this amount
It violated its assurance and stopped reimbursement of licence fee to BSNL. Its policies lead to the abolition of the payment of ADC to BSNL by the private operators. This abolition of licence fee and ADC resulted in a loss of Rs 7200 crores to BSNL
It stopped BSNL from procuring equipment for expansion and robbed its business opportunities, pushing down BSNL from 2nd place to 5th place in mobile services market
It continues the uncertainity without relieving the DoT opted ITS Officers, thereby stalling the work of BSNL
All these policies resulted in a loss of Rs 6384 crores for BSNL for 2010-11
After looting BSNL thus, it now blaming the employees for these losses and going ahead with the proposal to retrench one lakh employees in the name of VRS
This VRS will put more burden on BSNL since it has to take a loan of Rs 11000 crores atleast to implement it and it also will result in extra burden of another 2000 crores for meeting part of the pension expenditure for the one lakh employees if given VRS
The employee given VRS will be put to loss since the pension amount and the interest on ex-gratia he will get will be less than the salary he will get if continued in the job. His pension also will be less since he will retire prematurely with less basic pay
The employees were deprived of the pay revision benefit on pay+78.2% DA and was restricted to Pay+68.8% DA only
The LTC, leave encashment on LTC and medical allowance for outdoor treatment is stopped
This is part of the great loot going on in America, Europe and India in the name of “reforms” to help big corporate to get windfall profits, by looting the people, the PSUs and natural resources. These policies resulted in difficulties to the economies and in the name of solving these difficulties, the pro-capitalist ruling parties are imposing more loot and crisis.
This loot has to be stopped. If you are not revolting against this loot, you will be deprived of every thing in future. In all these countries struggles are going on against these policies.
In our country also the struggles are taking place in each and every sector. BSNL is no exception. The strike in BSNL is to change the wrong policies. It is the responsibility of BSNL employees to make the strike a grand success and it is the responsibility of all progressive forces to support the strike.
